Google Releases Chrome 134, Introduces New Features and Manifest V2 Deprecation

The latest version of Google Chrome has arrived, as Google recently officially released Chrome version 134 for users on Windows, Linux, and Mac. This release introduces several enhancements, including the addition of quick settings and the phasing out of manifest v2.

Let’s first discuss Quick Settings. This is a rapid configuration feature that allows users to manage content in the toolbar and adjust the placement of redesigned shortcuts.
You can configure this by navigating to Menu > More Tools > Customize Chrome.

As shown in the image above, the Toolbar section enables users to choose which menus to display, from navigation settings to adding custom buttons for quick access, along with various actions and tools that can be incorporated.

This flexibility allows you to tailor the toolbar to better suit your specific needs.

In addition to the introduction of Quick Settings, Chrome’s initiative to phase out Manifest v2 has expanded its reach. The gradual discontinuation of the second version of the manifest is now affecting a larger number of users.
Initially, this change only impacted a small fraction of users, but recently, there has been a noticeable increase in complaints from Chrome users about add-ons like uBlock Origin ceasing to function due to the manifest update.

Apart from the deprecation of Manifest v2, Chrome 134 also introduces other updates, such as improvements to the prompt password change feature, enhanced Form auto-fill powered by AI, and several security enhancements. For a detailed list, visit this page.
Overall, these updates bring numerous new features that will undoubtedly benefit users. However, the elimination of Manifest v2 continues to face significant pushback, as it significantly reduces the effectiveness of adblocking tools.
