Over 400 Million Weekly Users Rely on ChatGPT for AI Solutions

OpenAI recently shared an intriguing update, revealing that ChatGPT now boasts over 400 million users every week.
In relation to this, OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, Brad Lightcap, mentioned in an interview with CNBC that this figure represents a 33% increase from the 300 million users reported in December 2024. To celebrate this milestone, the official X account of ChatGPT posted a message with “4e8” in scientific notation, which translates to 400 million.

During his CNBC interview, Brad Lightcap attributed much of ChatGPT’s growth to the “natural evolution” of the product, as more people are discovering its capabilities through word-of-mouth promotion.

In addition to the surge in user numbers, OpenAI’s enterprise sector has also seen significant growth, with the number of paying corporate clients doubling to 2 million since September 2024.
The rise in corporate users is largely driven by recommendations from existing users. As Lightcap shared, many users have been advocating for ChatGPT within their organizations, contributing to this growth.
Furthermore, despite the emergence of Deepseek as a more affordable chatbot alternative, OpenAI continues to dominate the market. ChatGPT remains the leading AI chatbot, outperforming competitors like Copilot, Deepseek, Gemini, and others.
What do you think? 400 million users per week is undoubtedly an impressive figure, isn’t it?
