Apple and Alibaba Collaborate to Bring Apple Intelligence to China

Recent reports suggest that Apple is currently in talks with Alibaba to integrate AI features into iPhones for the Chinese market.
This move could potentially boost sales in the region, especially since iPhone sales have declined due to low demand and increasing competition from local players like Oppo, Huawei, and Xiaomi, which already offer AI features in their devices.
Additionally, it is rumored that Apple also considered Baidu and Tencent, but their AI models did not meet Apple’s standards for Apple Intelligence, leading to the decision to collaborate with Alibaba.
Why Not DeepSeek?

Apple appears to have overlooked DeepSeek due to its lack of resources and experience needed to support such a large customer base. Alibaba Group, on the other hand, specializes in e-commerce, retail, internet, and other technologies, making it a more suitable partner.
Alibaba has heavily invested in AI, and many of its AI models have made headlines for their impressive performance. With its vast consumer data and AI expertise, it’s no surprise that Apple chose to partner with Alibaba for the Chinese market.
Additional Language Support Coming in April
For Apple Intelligence users, the service is now widely available across most regions globally, except for China and the European Union. It currently supports English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Ireland), English (New Zealand), English (South Africa), English (UK), and English (US).
Reports indicate that Apple plans to add support for more languages, including Mandarin, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and others, through a software update in April this year.

Will the addition of Apple Intelligence in the Chinese market truly boost Apple’s device sales? Only time will tell, given the fierce competition from rivals offering advanced technologies.
