Similar to most browsers, you can easily install extensions on Microsoft Edge Chromium from the Microsoft Edge Add-on site. From there, you can install a variety of extensions, including Adblock, Pop Up Blocker, Downloader, and many more.
But what if you want to prevent Microsoft Edge from installing extensions altogether? Is it possible? The answer is yes, and you can rely on a policy that can be easily added and configured. Here are the quick steps:
Step 1. First, ensure you are using an Administrator account on your Windows 10 or 11 system.

Step 2. Next, open the local group policy editor (if you are using Windows Pro version).
Step 3. Then, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Component > Microsoft Edge > Allow Extensions.
Step 4. Open the Allow Extensions setting and click Disabled.
Click OK and save the changes. Next, restart your Windows system, and you’re done. Now, Microsoft Edge will no longer be able to install extensions.
For Windows Home users, you can access the registry editor and navigate to the following registry key:
Then, change the value of ExtensionsEnabled from 1 to 0.
