Unlike Mac, where scrolling down requires moving the mouse wheel upward and vice versa, Windows operates in the opposite manner, a feature that has been a hallmark of the OS since its earlier versions.
But is it possible to change the scroll direction to mimic Mac or certain distros like Elementary OS? The answer is yes. Before proceeding, it’s worth noting that on touchpads, the two-finger scroll direction is typically correct—moving up scrolls down and moving down scrolls up. This is known as Natural Scrolling, which, honestly, feels more intuitive to me.
If you want your mouse scroll direction to behave the same way, a few additional steps are required. Here’s how you can do it:
For mice that support this feature, follow these steps:
Step 1. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse.
Step 2. Next, select the Scrolling direction option to set it to either down or up.
If your mouse doesn’t support this feature and the settings page isn’t available, try the following:
Step 1. Open Device Manager and click on the properties of your mouse.
Step 2. Navigate to the Details tab and select “Device instance path”.
Confirm the device ID, for example, in my case, it was: VID_1EA7&PID_0002&MI_01&COL02
Copy and save this ID.
Step 3. Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following registry key:
Locate the key that matches the VID ID you copied earlier.
Step 4. Within the registry key, find Device Parameters and edit the FlipFlopWheel value from 0 to 1.
Step 5. Click Ok and restart your system. After the reboot, the mouse scroll direction will align with your settings.
Note: This method also works on Windows 10 if you’d like to try it. Ensure the hardware ID you’ve identified is correct. If not, revert the changes and adjust the ID accordingly.
Give it a try—I hope this guide proves helpful. Thank you for reading!
Salin dan simpan ID tersebut guys.
Langkah 3.
Terima kasih.
