As the number of games available on Epic Games expands, enhancing the security of your account becomes essential. Relying solely on a password is no longer sufficient.
To bolster security, implementing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is highly recommended. For those unfamiliar, 2FA is a security mechanism requiring two verification steps before granting access to an account or system. Its primary purpose is to add an extra layer of protection beyond just a password.
Adding 2FA to your Epic Games Store account is straightforward. Simply log in to your account using your preferred browser.
Step 1. Once logged in, click on your profile and select Account.
Step 2. Next, navigate to Password & Security.
Step 3. Scroll down and locate the Two-Factor Authentication section. Choose your preferred 2FA method: an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, email-based 2FA, or SMS verification.
In this example, I’ll use Microsoft Authenticator. Under the Two-Factor Authenticator App section, click Setup.
Step 4. Click Continue.
Scan the barcode using your chosen Authenticator app.
Enter the six-digit code generated by the app and click Activate App. That’s it!
From now on, each time you log into your Epic Games account, you’ll need to provide the 2FA code. This ensures your account remains secure, as anyone attempting to log in must also provide this verification.
Simple, right? Give it a try! By the way, what’s your favorite Authenticator app?
