Microsoft Defender VPN to be Discontinued for Microsoft 365 Customers

In 2023, Microsoft introduced a new feature for Microsoft Defender users called Privacy Protections, a secure VPN service designed to protect users when connecting to open or public networks.

However, there’s a surprising update. After expanding the service to more devices and regions last year, Microsoft sent an email to Microsoft 365 customers, informing them that the Privacy Protection feature will be discontinued on February 28, 2025. Microsoft cited the decision to end the VPN service, explaining they plan to invest in new areas that better align with user needs.

Regarding this change, Microsoft Defender users on Windows, iOS, and macOS don’t need to take any action. However, Android users must remove the VPN profile from their devices by following these steps:

The likely reason for this decision is the service’s lack of popularity, prompting Microsoft to discontinue it and redirect resources to other in-demand services. What’s your take? Do you have a different opinion? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
