Microsoft Discontinues Microsoft Publisher!

Generally, Microsoft Office users frequently utilize popular applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, while rarely engaging with other Office tools.
In light of this, Microsoft has recently announced plans to discontinue one of its least-used Office applications, Microsoft Publisher, by October 2026.

Microsoft has warned users that it will end support for Publisher in 2026. In the announcement, Microsoft also encouraged users to convert their .pub (Publisher) files to .pdf or .docx formats.

Microsoft plans to halt support for this application on October 1, 2026, coinciding with the end of support for Office LTSC 2021. The timing is strategic, aimed at reducing interest in the app and highlighting the alternatives available in other Office applications like Word and PowerPoint.
Additionally, after the specified date, all Microsoft 365 users will lose access to their files within the application.

As mentioned earlier, Microsoft is urging users to begin converting their Publisher files to other formats to adapt their workflows. Below are some formats and conversion methods users can employ.

It’s evident that Microsoft Publisher is seldom used, especially since it’s not included in the Office LTSC Home and Student package.
