The number of Microsoft account users has significantly increased, with Microsoft reporting over one billion accounts currently in use for accessing Windows, Xbox, Microsoft 365, and other services.
In response, Microsoft has unveiled a redesigned login experience for consumer accounts, offering a more modern, streamlined, and secure process.
As shown in the image above, the new interface has been updated using Microsoft’s Fluent 2 design language. It features fewer elements and concepts per screen to reduce user burden and speed up the login process.

Thanks to these changes, the updated login experience is adaptable to various screen sizes and device form factors, ranging from desktop monitors and large TVs to small mobile devices. Additionally, Microsoft has introduced the long-requested dark mode.
Furthermore, addressing complaints about inconsistent login interfaces, Microsoft has standardized the design. Colors, branding, buttons, links, and logos are now consistent across the entire UI.
The new login experience is already being rolled out for Xbox and will gradually extend to all users by April 2025. Users may notice these changes on web and mobile platforms first, followed by updates to Windows applications and other services over time.
