Years ago, Microsoft began introducing notifications regarding OneDrive capacity and Backup in Windows 11. These alerts would appear in the account section of the start menu or on the Settings page.
Now, these notifications are being expanded beyond OneDrive. Users can expect a variety of alerts, including reminders to add a recovery phone number to their Microsoft account, include a recovery email address, and backup their PC.
As shown in the image above, if a user fails to add a recovery phone number, they will see a never lose access warning.
Similar warnings will also appear on the Settings > Account page. Users have the option to dismiss these alerts or follow the instructions provided.
Additionally, there are notifications about backing up your PC to ensure that apps, settings, and passwords remain secure and synchronized with OneDrive.
In the future, more such warnings may be introduced, especially with Microsoft account integration across various Windows 11 services. While I personally see this as a positive step, users who prefer minimal distractions or avoid using Microsoft accounts might find it slightly intrusive.
Fortunately, these alert messages can be closed by clicking the “x” button. What are your thoughts? Share your opinions in the comments below.
