Not SE 4, Apple Introduces iPhone 16e – Coming to Indonesia?

Previously, dgdig published an article discussing Why the iPhone SE 4 is Worth Considering?, highlighting its fast performance, newer technology, and significantly lower price compared to the iPhone 15 or 16.
After a long wait, Apple finally introduced their latest iPhone model last night. However, it wasn’t the iPhone SE 4 but the iPhone 16e.

Currently, the iPhone 16 lineup includes the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. With this announcement, Apple added a new member to the family: the iPhone 16e.

This affordable model features a single camera, priced at $599, and includes a notch, the A18 processor, Apple’s first internal C1 modem, an Action Button, and more. Essentially, it retains most features of the iPhone 16 but is streamlined to reduce costs.

In terms of specifications, the iPhone 16e boasts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with the same notch as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13, housing the TrueDepth camera system for FaceID. This officially marks the end of TouchID, previously used in the iPhone SE 1, 2, and 3.

Powered by the A18 processor, the device supports Apple Intelligence and delivers a significant performance boost compared to the iPhone 11 and earlier iPhone SE models.
Notably, the iPhone 16e is the first iPhone to feature Apple’s internal C1 modem. Apple claims this modem is the most power-efficient ever made, offering improved battery life and supporting all modern connectivity standards, including satellite communication.
Apple promises the iPhone 16e will provide up to six hours more battery life than the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours more than all previous iPhone SE models.

Like other iPhone 16 models, the iPhone 16e includes an Action Button, which can serve as a shortcut for functions like Apple Intelligence, Flashlight, Camera, Mute, and more.

When it comes to the camera, the iPhone 16e keeps it simple with a single rear camera. Apple describes it as a “2-in-1 camera system,” featuring a 48MP single lens with portrait and night mode capabilities.

According to Apple, the higher-resolution sensor allows users to crop images for results equivalent to a 2x telephoto camera. For video recording, the iPhone 16e supports 4K 60 FPS with spatial audio.

For users still on the iPhone SE 1, 2, or 3, the iPhone 16e is a worthy upgrade, provided its features will be fully utilized. If your current device is still functioning well, upgrading may only be for style.
However, it’s important to note that the iPhone 16 is not officially sold in our country, making it highly unlikely the iPhone 16e will be officially available in Indonesia.
The iPhone 16e will come in two colors: black and white. Storage options include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, starting at $599 for the 128GB variant. Preorders begin on Friday, February 21, in 59 countries (excluding Indonesia), with deliveries scheduled for February 28.
If not officially sold in Indonesia, the iPhone 16e may be priced around Rp10.xxx.xxx or higher. Are you interested in buying the iPhone 16e? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
