Microsoft previously announced the discontinuation of the Suggested Actions feature in Windows 11, providing limited details. As of December 2024, this feature has been officially removed and will no longer be included in future Windows 11 releases, joining other deprecated features like Paint 3D, as listed on the Deprecated features page.
In line with this, the recently released Windows 11 Insider Canary Build 27818 has officially eliminated the feature. Users can no longer copy and access recommended actions or suggested actions.
For those unfamiliar, this feature was introduced in 2021 with the release of Windows 11 Insider Build 25115. Microsoft Suggested Actions provided pop-ups with additional actions for selected items, such as offering options when a phone number was highlighted.
Aside from phone numbers, copying dates would also trigger different actions based on the supporting applications.
This feature was particularly useful for saving dates and creating calendar events, as it streamlined the process into a single click for quick and effortless execution.
However, due to its perceived lack of popularity and usage, the feature was ultimately discontinued—though Microsoft did not provide a detailed explanation.
In addition to removing this feature, Windows 11 Build 27818 introduced various fixes, such as resolving crashes in d3d9.dll and improving .zip file extraction performance. For a full list of changes, visit the official page.
