Vertical Tab (Project Jupiter) Enhanced Again in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft previously enhanced the Vertical Tab feature in Microsoft Edge through an experimental flag called Project Jupiter. Initially, this flag allowed users to gain better and faster control, including the ability to activate vertical tabs with just a single click.

However, according to the latest leaks, Microsoft appears to be further improving the features of Project Jupiter with the introduction of Transient and Switcher modes. It remains unclear which one will be designated as the Transient mode.
In the Switcher mode, Edge’s vertical tabs occupy more screen space, appearing beneath the workspace icon and separated from the browser’s main window. As a result, the profile icon now appears on the right side alongside other icons and extensions.

Visually, the layout remains similar, but users will notice that tab actions are now positioned at the top of the new arrangement. Meanwhile, the transient mode is slightly different and is still under development.

As shown in the image above, this mode separates the tab view from the main screen area, providing users with more space to focus on the web page they are accessing.

Accessing the workspace remains straightforward, with an improved color scheme and a more streamlined design.
Once again, this feature is still in development and is currently only available in Microsoft Edge Canary for users who have enabled the experimental flag for Project Jupiter.
For more precise details, we’ll have to wait until the feature rolls out to a broader audience. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below
